Early Intervention

CHILDREN SERVED:

learners newly diagnosed with autism, ages 1-6, in our early intervention clinic, Next Step.

PROGRAM IMPACT:

Clients receive one-on-one ABA therapy that is intensive, yet entirely play-based! They also have access to SDSA’s inclusive preschool, where they interact with non-disabled peers from SDSA’s childcare program. Our qualified clinical team provides individualized treatment, helping children gain the skills necessary to enter the least restrictive academic setting.

Elementary education

CHILDREN SERVED:

children with autism ages 6-11 in SDSA’s lower school classrooms

PROGRAM IMPACT:

Students receive instruction in a two-to-one teaching format, focusing on speech and communication, play skills, math, language, reading, and self-help skills. They enjoy cooking projects, science experiments, and outdoor recess. Our team of skilled ABA instructors collaborate with parents to ensure skills transfer to a child’s home life.

children with autism, ages 12-22, in SDSA’s upper school classrooms.

PROGRAM IMPACT:

Our junior high and high school students are at an age where we begin to think about their transition out of SDSA and into adulthood. In addition to academics, we work with students to fine tune communication, daily living, and job readiness skills to ensure students lead the most independent life possible after graduation.
